Off to a flier at Oldham

It´s been a busy couple of weeks - what with ending my loan move at Derby, signing a new contract at Boro and then joining Oldham for a month. Things are definitely looking up; I got my first full game for a long time for the Latics against Northampton last Saturday and I really enjoyed it. The whole experience, from training during the week, the build-up on matchday and then coming out in front of the crowd is something I´ve really missed. We got the win as well, which is the most important thing.

The lads have been great here since I arrived; there´s great banter in the dressing room and the club have set me up in a house for the month which is much better than living out of a hotel. Oldham seems like a nice town and I´m just down the road from Manchester where I´ve got a lot of mates. I know Scotty Golbourne from my England days as well so that´s helped me settle in.

I played right-back on Saturday and I was a bit apprehensive about it as I haven´t played there for quite a while – I´ve mainly been used at centre-half – but it worked out really well. We played a 4-3-3 formation so the onus was on the full-backs to get forward and provide some width. I like to attack so that suited me fine. It was a really good test, getting up and down the flank all game. The game ended 2-1 but we could have had five for the number of chances we created.
