The Turkish striker scored both Boro goals at Villa Park but was quick to play down his part in the 2-1 win. "I´m no hero," Tuncay told the club website. "But this was a very important result for us. We have five points from our last three games and winning two from our last three away matches is excellent. "Every player´s attitude was first class and every player thought we could win this game. Villa are a good team, a hard team, but we played good football and got our rewards." Both of Tuncay´s goals came after mistakes in the Villa defence. In the first half a Stewart Downing cross was not properly cleared and Tuncay lashed the loose ball into the Villa net. Steve Sidwell equalized for the home side before half-time but two minutes before the end Tuncay seized on a poor back pass to fire Middlesbrough into the lead. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
